Little Tokyo Field Trip

Yagura- Japanese Village Plaza
A huge tower that stood right in front of the Japanese Village Plaza. I was amazed out how tall it was and it stood at as one of the main towers.









Ellison Onizuka Monument-Weller Court
A statue  of a man named Ellison Onizuka who was a astronaut challenger and this statue was built to honor him after he died just after 73 seconds of lift off. This monument was built to honor him and his bravery. In my opinion, he seemed to b a brave and daring human being. He must have had  a lot of courage to go on the Space Shuttle.



Go For Broke Monument-North side of MOCA and Japanese National Museum                                  
 This momument was built to honor the brave  Japanese American veterans of World War II who served our country. It is located north of the Japanese National Museum. This monument also the first mainland of its kind that the U.S. built to honor the Japanese American veterans. To me it seems like a very important monument and it shows much we care for the people who helped us.










Japanese American  Community Cultural Center-Japanese Garden

The Japanese American Cultural & Community Center is the largest Asian American cultural center in the U.S. & it portray the Japanese arts and culture. It was founded in 1971. This is place is the historical heart of the Los Angles  Japanese American Community. This is place i didnt get to go to, but it seems we can see how the Japanese arts and culture came to be if we entered this place.







Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple-visit after 10 a.m.

This temple was built to promote Buddhism and in the temple, Buddhism has evolved for years. It was built to help Buddhism to evolve to meet the spiritual needs of the people. The temple is one of the largest and oldest religious group in Japan. When we reached this temple we were allowed to look inside the temple. I was amazed at what i saw.








Kyoto Grand Hotel

This hotel stands 21 stories over Los Angeles and it is a full- service hotel that blends Asian style with beauty. They offer a full shuttle transportation and its offers a lot of gateways for your vacation to Los Angeles. It is located 3 miles from the Los Angeles Convention Center. I was amazed when i looked at it. It was a huge tower and i wish i could have gone inside.










Imagawayaki- Mitsuru Cafe
This is a type of food that is found in Mitsuru Cafe that is located in the Japanese Village Plaza Mall area. It is a certain kind of dessert that many people have usually liked or loved it. Imagawayaki is a sweet pancake with red bean paste on it, it actually looks like a cake. I didnt get to try it but i heard it is very good and i hope to try it soon.
 











Tako Yaki-Mitsuru Cafe

Tako Yaki is also a type of food found at Mitsuru Cafe that is located in the Japanese Village Plaza Mall area. It is a type of dumpling made that is made with baby octopus and other spices. It is made for certain kind of festivals like New Years. I never got to try it, but i heard its good nd i hope to try it soon.






Statue of Kinjiro Ninomiya

This Statue was built to honor Kinjiro Ninomiya who became a very important symbol. Later in his life he became the symbol of Thrift and Dilligence. His statue has been placed a lot by elementary skills. He became a symbol during war times. He seems like a very important person in Japanese history.










Five Items from Fugetsudo
When we went to this store in Little Tokyo, my friends and i were shocked when we saw this store Filled with sweets. We ran into stores and bought all sorts of food there. It was awesome! It is a sweet shop.













Kinokuniya Book Store
This store is found in Weller Court located in Little Tokyo. You can find English books, manga, and Japanese Magazines. Japanese CDs with English subtitles and videos can also be found. When i went there I saw a whole variety of different Japanese books. It was awesome!










Jungle-Collectors Shop

This store sells many anime related things like plushies, manga, pictures, and many other things. This is located in the Lower level of Union Bank of California in the Japanese Village Plaza. I wanted to go inside but it was closed.









Marukai Market
Marukai Market is located in the complex of Weller Court. You can find food like pastries and other goods like Hawaian and Japanese things in this place. It a great place to check out especially if you like Hello Kitty.










Anzen Hardware

This place has a lot of things you wouldn't expect to find in Little Tokyo. You can find things that can help you garden and Japanese knives that look awesome. You can also find knife sand covers too.









Bukan-do
This is a place where you can get all sorts of gift items. You can get lanterns, cat statues, Japanese tea cups, necklaces, and other gift items. When me and my friends when their we were totally shocked at  how many different cool items that were there.



















Mikawaya

This shop is another shop in Little Tokyo that sells sweets and frozen yogurt. Mikawaya is very famous for their delicious mochi.They have many different flavors of mochi in this store.  I believe this store has great mochi like Fugetsudo.

















Tokyo Japanese Outlet

Tokyo Japanese Outlet was the first place my group went to. It had awesome Japanese stuff in there. There were Domo shirts and pokemon stuff as well. They sell plushies of anime characters and good luck items as well. This was my favorite place out of Little Tokyo.












Replicated foods
While walking around from store to store my group could see a lot of resturants with a lot of good looking food and we took pictures of 5 of them.















The Frying Fish- Revolving Sushi Bar

A resturant were you can see all kinds of different Japanese food. Food was able to be seen revolving right when you enter the resturant. You could see all the different kinds of sushi they had and all of the different kinds of food that u might have never seen before. It was cool seeing a revolving sushi bar for the first time.









Rafu Bassan

Rafu Bassan is located on the 2nd street in front of the Japanese Village Plaza. This store has a lot of things that can be used for the kitchen. You can find Japanese Tea cups and Japanese designed plates. They also had tea cups with painted faces of animals like the panda. It was a very nice store and the Japanese cups were my group's favorite.














Weller Court

Weller Court is a filled with Multi level Restaurants which display food in many unique ways. Not only that, we saw many unique drawings in the area as well. The Kyoto Hotel was also located in Weller Court, it is actually the Rooftop of Weller Court. The most amazing thing in that place for me was that they had a Curry House!









Japanese American National Museum
The Japanese American National Museum was the first place we went to when we arrived to Little Tokyo. This place is the mark of Little Tokyo and is very important to that place. The most important building in Little Tokyo. Me and my friends loved to take pictures over there.










Koyasan Buddhist Temple

The Koyasan Buddhist Temple is a Hidden Buddhist Temple on 1st street next to Japanese Village Plaza. It is a huge temple surrounded my beautiful statues and a small porch. People are allowed to enter the Temple after 10 am and it is one out of the two temples in Little Tokyo. The outside of the Temple was beautiful.











SK Uyeda Department

The SK Uyeda Department is located across Weller Court. This store mostly as everything to do with mattresses, cosmetics. SK Uyeda mostly has beauty supplies and they also have sleep wear. My group didn't get to go to this Department but I hope to be able to check it out when i go back to Little Tokyo.











 Izakaya

 Izakaya is a restaurant that has many different kinds of Japanese foods. In the window you can see the photos of menu items, the inside and the outside way they make their unique food. This restaurant is a fusion of Japanese and other Asian foods. They are very famous for their sake. Their food and drinks specials are everyday till 7:30 P.M.








Museum of Contemporary Art

Museum of Contemporary Art
The the abbreviation of this museum is MOCA. It is closed on Mondays and they are ususally open Tuesday through Sunday from 11 am to 5 pm and on Wednesday its open from 1-9. But Sundays are open from 12 pm. 5 pm.











Little Tokyo Marketplace-

This place has shops in the area and you can get groceries and a lot of Japanese related things. You can get Japanese candy and you can find out what Japanese usually buy.
